Many people find that the economy is affected by the rising electricity prices, but now you can predict how expensive it will be in the next few days.

In collaboration with StormGeo, Good morning Norway has mapped this week’s electricity prices – so you can find out when you can take a long shower, and when you should turn off the oven to save a penny.

Developing price

Every Tuesday at God morgen Norge, you get an insight into how the price trend is, and the reason for the current prices.

Many people have noticed that electricity prices in Germany have been very low – while prices are rising in Norway.

– People get angrier, because they know how little it costs to make electricity in this country, states presenter Espen Fiveland (48).

Weather forecaster Isabella Martinsen (43) has the overview of the week’s electricity prices and alerts, which delivers good news to all consumers out there:

– It has been more expensive right up until Monday, and it was actually the first day this year that we were cheaper than Germany. There are, of course, several factors that come into play, such as the weather – but also that gas prices have fallen considerably there, she says and continues:

– Then it will be more expensive for us, but now it is turning around. Now I have a “king kong” electricity price alert this week here!

Most expensive Tuesday

It looks promising for the prices this week:

– In terms of weather, there is a clear signal. It is wet, mild and it is windy. It’s favorable for prices this week here, and with the mild weather it looks set to hold through the week. It is not until the end of the week and into the weekend that the temperature starts to drop. Then you can prepare for it to be more expensive next week.

– The most expensive hours are between 08.00 and 09.00 in Oslo today, and between 17.00 and 18.00.

Martinsen explains that the prices shown above are the electricity exchange’s prices, and that they have been set. They include VAT, while for private households in Nordland, Troms and Finnmark, you do not pay VAT:

– Business does it, and it was decided in 1969. It is because of the climate, because winter is a little longer in the north, she says and continues:

– The average price for the day is more expensive than it was at the weekend, but it is still cheaper than last week.

When the prices for the next few days are to be presented, there are analysts who have counted on it. Martinsen believes that they have voted well so far, and is only an estimate of how the prices have probably developed.
