Ion Izagirre achieves the second Spanish victory in the 2023 Tour de France

New Spanish victory in the Tour de France. The Cofidis corridor, Ion Izagirrewas done this Thursday with the twelfth stage of the great round, after three hours and almost 52 minutes of pedaling between Roanne and Belleville in Beaujolais.

Izagirre crossed the finish line alone after a great escape. Almost a minute after the Spanish arrived the French Mathieu Burgaudeau and the american Matteo Jorgenson.

Izagirre’s previous Tour victory dates back to 2016, in the alpine town of Morzine. He has also won stages in the Giro d’Italia and the Spanish Vuelta.

The stage did not affect the leadership of the Dane Jonas Vingegaard, who leads the Slovenian Tadej Pogacar in 17 seconds. Jai Hindley remained in third position, two minutes and 40 seconds off the lead.

This Friday, the thirteenth stage, with arrival at the Grand Colombier, the most demanding hilltop finish of this 2023 Tour.
