The current iPhone generation is more different than ever before: while the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus come with the old A15 SoC from 2021 and show the usual Face ID notch, the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max run with the current processor (A16 ) and new pill-shaped Dynamic Island on the front. The iPhone 15, which is expected for September, should again show clear demarcations between standard and pro models – even with the screen. At least that’s what fresh rumors from Asia suggest over the weekend.

The Twitter account that has been more correct in the past ShrimpApplePro claims that Apple will not change the display sizes between series 14 and 15, i.e. work with 6.1 inches and 6.7 inches. But the iPhone 15 Pro will get “thinner edges with curved edges”. However, the display is still flat. The look of the screen is based on the Apple Watch Series 7 and 8. The curved front glass should also appear on the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus. However, Apple will omit the thinner edge, which is still the same as that of the iPhone 14.

It has already been speculated that Apple will use a titanium case instead of a steel case for the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max for the first time. This brings weight and stability advantages, as with the Apple Watch Ultra. Furthermore, the Pro models will probably receive an improved camera, which for the first time also contains a periscope optic. The Dynamic Island, on the other hand, should probably be extended to all device variants. It remains to be seen whether Apple will also separate the SoCs again – but it seems likely. Then the standard iPhones could get the A16 SoC from 2022 and the Pro variants the (yet unknown) A17.

ShrimpApplePro also claims to have heard that Apple will retain the Ceramic Shield on the glasses to protect the devices, and nothing will change on the Dynamic Island itself. According to the leaker, further details on the look of the new iPhone 15 models can be expected in March or April, when, in his opinion, the first CAD drawings should escape.

With the iPhone 15 Pro Max, Apple doesn’t seem to have decided how it will be marketed yet. In the meantime there have been reports that the top model could be called the iPhone 15 Ultra in the future. This would also be accompanied by special functions that only the 15 Ultra gets to set it apart from the 15 Pro. Currently, the main difference between the 14 Pro and the 14 Pro Max is the screen size alone. So the 15 Ultra alone could get said periscope lens for a 10x optical zoom.
