You are currently viewing iPhone: Emergency SMS feature starts in Spain and Switzerland

Apple is expanding the availability of its emergency SMS service.

As part of the Apple event on Tuesday, it was announced that the emergency SMS service would soon be available in more areas. It has been in use since the iPhone 14 and helps save people in areas without cell phone service.

Wider availability coming soon

The emergency call feature via satellite is currently available in 14 countries. Two more are scheduled to be added in September: Switzerland and Spain.

Launch soon

It is assumed that the launch will happen in parallel with the iPhone 15 launch or the iOS 17 release. The smartphone can be pre-ordered starting tomorrow and will be delivered next week – it could be ready by then. However, Apple itself has not yet given an official date.
