The technology Bluetooth 5.2 guarantees a stable connection without delay, and Haylou guarantees a battery that lasts up to 32 hours. Strengths

light and comfortable

The first thing that will impress you is the lightness that Buds PurFree has. For those who spend the whole day with the headset in their ear (as is my case), there will be a moment when you won’t even notice that the PurFree is in your ear.

In this regard, I found it even more comfortable than the Haylou BC01, another headphone model from the brand that we tested recently. The difference is that it has two separate headphones that can be used individually if desired. When using it, you just need to fit the stem to the back of the ear.

Excellent quality sound

Open headphones are targets of great prejudice out there, especially by those who prioritize audio with maximum quality, with noise cancellation activated and the most serious sounds standing out. In fact, an in-ear headphone, one that fits inside your ear canal, will always have better quality in this regard. However, I have never seen anything quite like Buds PurFree.

As it is an open earphone, you imagine that it has a lower audio and that it will simply disappear if you are in noisier environments, such as inside public transport. Surprisingly, that’s not what happens here. It has excellent control of the lowest frequencies, offers clean and very loud audio. This is perhaps Haylou’s secret to offering the maximum experience.

Battery for the week

As mentioned, Haylou guarantees a battery life of up to 32 hours, including the battery of the next headphone case. The headphones particularly last approximately 8 hours. This means that it is possible to recharge the headphones and use them for 8 hours straight until they run out of power and then insert them back into the case to continue using them for another 8 hours, then another 8 and finally another 8.

In our tests it showed that this is indeed possible. My use boils down to the following: in the morning, I usually listen to the day’s news on the radio for approximately 1h30. Then, I turn off the radio, but the cell phone remains connected with the headset for practically the entire time. In the afternoon, I listen to an album on Spotify or watch videos on YouTube. The phone only returns to the case at the end of my shift, around 6 pm.

Even not being used continuously for all that time, I never heard the Buds PurFree ringtone asking to be recharged. The case is already ready to charge on the office table, so just put the headphones inside it, fit the cable and take it again the next day. Excellent, for me, is one of the best points of this phone.

Negative points

Latency stealing the spotlight in games

It is common for latency to be something that stands out in wireless headphones. To avoid this, Haylou opted for the chip Qualcomm QCC3040with dual-channel communication technology and Bluetooth 5.2. According to the company, this ensures a 50% gain in transmission stability compared to Bluetooth 5.0.

To be honest, the Buds PurFree’s latency only bothers you in games. when playing Pianist, which is a kind of Guitar Hero mobile piano, I found it difficult to get the exact moment to hit the notes just by the rhythm of the music. And in football games, like PES and FIFA, the sound of the ball touch is played with a certain delay as well.

In the other contents, I didn’t feel any latency interference. In phone calls, for example, there are headphones where you always end up talking over someone else’s voice, precisely because of the delay in audio reproduction to your ear. But that doesn’t happen with Buds PurFree.

sync failures

As I said, my daily use with the headphones comes down to keeping them in my ear all day. And at this rate, I ended up realizing that at times there is a lack of synchronization between the two sides of the phone. I can’t say if it’s because of the idle time or because of the continuous time on, at some point it stops playing the content synchronously.

In practice, you hear the same song at different times on each side of the headphones. The only way I managed to solve this problem is to put the headphones back in the case, wait a few seconds and then take it out again. It doesn’t bother you, but it’s still a flaw.

Is Haylou Buds PurFree any good? Worth to buy?

The Haylou Buds PurFree are excellent quality open ear headphones — the best I’ve ever tried. The design is modern, it is light and comfortable and has almost no downsides. You can safely use it outdoors. It’s perfect for those who take walks outdoors or those who work out at the gym. You’ll be able to listen to your favorite music in good quality and still be connected to your surroundings.

When released, Haylou Buds PurFree came with a suggested retail price of R$875. That’s a pretty hefty price tag for someone who just wants to listen to music once in a while. But for those who opt for the experience of having a very loud headset and still being able to hear what is happening around them, waterproof design and long battery life, this value may make sense.
