Juarez City- Five teams of firefighters, with five fire extinguishers and four tankers, have been fighting the fire that has been consuming the garbage accumulated in the landfill since Tuesday afternoon.

Sergio Rodríguez, commander of the Fire Department, explained that they have not been able to contain the fire in one of the waste confinement islands (cell 1), in addition to the fact that it could worsen with the wind forecast for this afternoon.

15 hours after the fire was reported to them, they continue to work on extinction together with local personnel and the help of members of the Local Mutual Aid Committee (CLAM).

Ecology personnel also arrived in the area to monitor air quality and notify families living in neighborhoods located in the kilometers about the damage to health due to environmental contamination.
