Mexico City.– The Ukrainian ambassador to Mexico, Oksana Dramaretska, urged the international community on Tuesday to support the nation that was attacked almost a year ago by Russia and asserted that it is not possible to maintain neutrality.

“We call on the countries that have not yet determined their position under the pretext of neutrality or non-intervention, to take a clear position of support for justice, goodness, international law,” he told a press conference in the framework of the commemoration of one year of the invasion of Ukraine.

“We urge you to side with the victim and not the aggressor.”

Dramaretska pointed out that Ukraine understands the position of some countries like Mexico regarding the supply of weapons, but specified that there are other forms of support, such as a clear political front and humanitarian support.

“We are not asking for weapons from Mexico, we are asking for another type of support. It is important that Mexico join countries that have imposed sanctions against Russia,” he said.

The ambassador thanked the Mexican government for its position at the United Nations and recalled that since the conflict began in 2014, with the annexation of Crimea, Mexico has condemned and supported Ukraine, even before the Security Council.

Dramaretska added that she hopes that on February 23, when another important resolution is voted on in the UN General Assembly, Mexico will vote in favor.
