The parents of Fernando Báez Sosa affirmed this Wednesday that it was “very painful to see the blood” of their son “everywhere”, after the experts confirmed in the eighth hearing of the trial that there were those traces of the victim on three garments two of the defendants.
“It is very painful to see my son’s blood everywhere. You can see that they attacked him anyway, they destroyed my son’s entire body,” said Fernando’s mother, Graciela Sosa Osorio, in statements to the press upon leaving the courts of Dolores where the oral debate takes place.
Regarding this day, Fernando’s father, Silvino Báez, pointed out that it was a “difficult” day for him. “I had to see my son’s clothes, the shirt, see all the blood that is all stained on the clothes of the defendants. It always hurts a lot to see that. We keep Fernando in mind, in each hearing he is with us. See the blood stain from so much blow that they gave him is very hard”, described Silvino.
In this sense, Graciela added: “I feel that we are getting closer to justice. The evidence is compelling. They all agree. I just hope they get the maximum sentence.”
In turn, the mother of the young man murdered 3 years ago in Villa Gesell assured that he spent “a difficult night” when he recalled the content of the messages that the eight rugby players accused of the crime sent to each other and that were aired at the hearing of Yesterday.
“Last night I had a difficult night because I can’t get the word ‘expired’ out of my mind. Also when they said they would celebrate with wine and flowers. It is a very strong pain to hear all that. But here I am strong thanks to all of you who come to me to accompany and I know that they will be until the last moment. This cannot be left without justice. Because they have killed, they have murdered an innocent man who only wanted to go out and have fun with his friends, with his girlfriend,” Graciela said with tears in his eyes.
On the other hand, and given the possibility that some relatives of the defendants will testify next Monday, Silvino confirmed that they will witness the hearing and thanked the residents of Dolores for their support.
“Obviously we’re going to be there. That’s why we came, that’s why we’re here. We’re very strong. All the people of Dolores and those who are close to us support us. We draw a lot from that to move forward. It’s not easy for us to see that show you how they kicked him, in what place. He is our son, he is a piece of ours,” the man summarized.
In addition, Silvino indicated that he does not expect the rugbiers to testify and that “the tests are already there.”
“Three years have passed and they have never spoken. Whether they speak now or tomorrow will not change anything. The evidence is already there. Everything we say is referred to evidence. We do not expect anything. We only wait for the return of my son and he never returned “I am not resentful nor do I want revenge. I hope that one day we can talk. For me it is not necessary. With the pain that we carry with us every day, it will be a bigger pain. I prefer to avoid that for now,” he said.
Finally, Graciela said that she wants “justice” so that “Fernando can rest in peace” and again convened an interreligious meeting scheduled for January 18.
“I am not going to recover it, but I hope to have a little peace and a little calm in my heart. He is giving us that strength to stand up. On the 18th we are going to have an inter-religious meeting. Let’s hope that people can come to accompany us. We are asking that they help us with non-perishable food and school supplies. Fernando would have liked that,” he concluded.
