Former President Mauricio Macri reappeared on the public scene today in the midst of a strong confrontation with Horacio Rodríguez Larreta over his decision to elect his successor in the City with separate ballots, as requested by Martín Lousteau, aspiring Buenos Aires chief of the UCR and one of its strategic partners in Together for Change.

“I am here because if we have the courage to do the right thing, which is the opposite of political correctness, the future is ours,” Macri said, winking at Patricia Bullrich, Larreta’s competitor in the presidential race.

The tension between Macri and one of his main disciples aggravated the internal struggle in the opposition coalition for the strategy to recover national power in the next elections. In the last hours, the former president asked his people to end the matter. He does not want to continue confronting Larreta.

The premises of the Rural Society in Palermo are the scene today for the presentations of the main opposition presidential candidates, among them, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta and Patricia Bullrich, in the midst of the unprecedented and spicy internal PRO.

The event that summons them is the presentation of their national proposals before the Argentine Rural Society (SRA).

There will also be Gerardo Morales, Javier Milei, Miguel Angel Pichetto and Juan Schiaretti, in the Main Auditorium, inside the Red Pavilion.

It will be a meeting intended for each applicant to show the ideas they propose for the primary elections on August 13.

In addition, it could be Bullrich’s first face-to-face meeting with Rodríguez Larreta after the shock due to the concurrent split in the elections in the City of Buenos Aires and the anger of the PRO leadership.

The La Rural property will also receive former President Mauricio Macri today, although it will be at another event: the lunch of the Inter-American Council of Commerce and Production (CICYP).
