The director has announced that he is working on two new documentaries about bees and penguins for the “Secrets” series launched in 2021 by National Geographic and he is an executive producer.

In full promotion of his film Avatar: The Way of the Water, James Cameron lifts the veil on his upcoming projects. At a Television Critics Association press conference in California, the director announced that he will be producing two new wildlife documentaries for National Geographic: Secrets of the Bees and Secrets of the Penguins.

As stated by the American media variety, these two contents will be part of the series “Secrets” imagined by National Geographic, of which James Cameron is the executive producer. In 2021, a first documentary on whales, Secrets of the Whaleshad been disclosed.

“Patience Exercise”

Famous for his renowned feature films such as titanic or Alienthe filmmaker, fascinated by nature, however confided, during this announcement, to appreciate the format of the animal documentary.

“You can write a script, but animals don’t have time to respect. They show up when they decide to, so the documentary is an exercise in patience,” he says.

And to add: “It’s a bit like science: you follow a lead, and you investigate the path. You think you know what the answer could be, but you don’t really know what the outcome is. story.”

During this press conference, National Geographic also revealed that a second part of the series secretsdevoted to elephants around the world, would be available from April 21, 2023.

This documentary will be narrated by actress Natalie Portman. A third part of the series, called Secrets of the Octopusabout octopuses, is also in preparation.
