It’s been a turbulent couple of years for James Gunn, to say the least, since some old tweets were unearthed that caused Disney to immediately end all cooperation with him. He then went over to DC and made The Suicide Squad before being welcomed back by Disney and directing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 which premieres next week. Going forward, however, he will be all the more involved with DC because he is now the new boss of the film universe and he will write and direct Superman: Legacy himself. Now he has told in an interview with THR what actually made him choose the man of steel.
“I completely relate to Superman because he’s everything I am. He’s somebody who is an outsider who feels like an alien, but also the ultimate insider, because he’s f**king Superman. And that’s kind of like what I feel like.”
