You are currently viewing Janni Kusmagk: Insight into son Merlin’s 2nd birthday – and its aftermath

In Janni Kusmagk’s family, all members have celebrated their birthdays in recent months, the youngest being Merlin. After all the emotional celebrations, the former surfer now promises a “feeling skater”.

In May of this year, Peer, 48, and Janni Kusmagk, 33, announced on social media that they were leaving their adopted home of Mallorca, to travel indefinitely. The couple has been together with their three children for a few weeks now Emil-Ocean, 6, Yoko, 4, and Merlin, 2, on the way. The family has enjoyed stays in France and Potsdam, among other things, and is currently on Rgen.

Ever since the Kusmagks started their adventure, every single member of the family has celebrated their birthday. On September 3, 2023, Merlin was the last to celebrate his second cradle party. The proud mum made a touching declaration of love for her little one on the special occasion, but also emphasized how exhausting the past celebrations had been.

Janni Kusmagk addresses moving words to little boy Merlin

On her Instagram account, the mother of three posted a clip showing the highlights of Merlin’s birthday party, from blowing out the candles on the cake to inspecting the presents. “You are two now. You beautiful person, you only see the best in everything and are satisfied with so little. You have so much respect, carry so much love and bring so much clarity with you that I actually can’t believe that you are only two years old you should be here your soul brings so much breadth, wisdom, so much light (sic)”, writes Janni Kusmagk.

It also says: “We will never forget the golden light that carried us through this day – so that the magic of life accompanies you forever, little, big Merlin. Nice that you exist. Your mom. (sic)”

She paid attention to sustainability

In her Instagram story, the former surfer gives further insights into her son’s big day and also reviews the previous celebrations. Because all Kusmagk birthdays had one thing in common: the decoration. “We had the same garland for all our birthdays this summer and didn’t buy any additional decorations. It’s nice not to have any rubbish after birthdays (sic)”, reflects Janni.

The “Happy Birthday” garland has now become a kind of ritual, and it was also used on Grandma’s day of honor and that of a friend.

Merlin’s gifts of two toy vacuum cleaners are also sustainable. Because the 33-year-old got hold of it on Ebay, which is why “no new plastic had to be released into the world”.

“Feeling Skater” after the birthday marathon

As beautiful as all these special moments were, they left their mark, reveals the former “Adam sucht Eva” participant. “Day after the ‘party: feeling skater. I don’t want to give you the wrong impression after the beautiful post and impressions of the day yesterday (sic)” writes Janni to a picture of herself in which she closes her eyes exhausted.

She also explains that there were emotional outbursts at the celebrations, especially jealousy, “because there are always two children who don’t have a birthday.” That is completely normal. However, the little ones have other hurdles to contend with: Two kids have “wiggle teeth”, another one has molars, “lots of emotions in the air”, emphasizes Janni and adds: “We do our best to accompany the feelings. Satisfying all needs at all times is simply impossible. Perceiving them is sometimes enough (sic).”
