Who is Valerie Taylor, to whom we owe Jaws ?

Valerie Taylor has dedicated her life to the study of sharks. The now 87-year-old is considered one of the world’s most important documentarians and photographers of these species, similar to Jane Goodall with primates. She and her husband, Ron, were the first to film great white sharks without the protection of a cage, in 1967. With the physique of a model and excessive courage, the scientist fascinates and is even one of the inspirations of Peter Benchley when he wrote the novel Jaws. In the process, Valerie and Ron filmed a documentary entitled Blue Water, White Death (Eau Bleue, Mort Blanche) who eventually convinced Steven Spielberg to hire them to shoot the shark scenes for Sea teeth.
