Previously, a loan deal from the defense giant to Celtic Glasgow was broken off. With a view to the premature end of his Scottish adventure, Jenz says: “There are moments when a coach chooses other players to play. Then it got difficult for me. Lorient, my home club, then also sought a change.” And further: “Celtic had a purchase option for the coming summer and from Lorient’s point of view it was becoming increasingly unrealistic that this would be exercised. It was also my clear wish to change clubs.” The clearer had been in contact with Schalke even before his commitment to Celtic.
