Jonathan Ive, better known as Jony Ive, is a designer who left a deep mark on the history of Manzanapartnering closely with Steve Jobs at the most critical moment for the company’s flourishing in its latest era of great innovation.

However, time must advance and the cycles close. So the artist left the ranks of the Cupertino company in 2019, to found his own studio, which remained for a long time as a plant consultant for the firm now directed by Tim Cook.

We had hardly heard from Jony Ive since September 2021, when Ferrari he ended up signing the legendary designer as part of his creative team.

But now again interesting news has resurfaced around him. Since yes, the genius has designed something new. But maybe it’s not something humanity has been expecting.

Jony has technically designed a clown nose. The situation and the headline of this note itself might sound like a joke. But in reality it is about something deeper and related to a good cause.

The story behind the clown nose designed by Jony Ive

Former Apple lead designer Jony Ive has unveiled his latest project: redesigning the iconic Red Nose that represents the British charity comic relief.

Broadly speaking, it is a UK charitable organization founded in 1985 by comic scriptwriter Richard Curtis in response to the Ethiopian famine. And since then they have established this comic accessory, which emulates a clown’s nose, as the main symbol in each of their activities.

The new red nose, created by Ive, is made primarily of plant-based materials and transforms from a small, flat crescent into a sphere of honeycomb paper.

This product is being sold as part of Red Nose Day, Comic Relief’s annual charity fundraising event which is broadcast on a variety of British BBC TV channels:

“We have grown with Comic Relief and are proud to support their extraordinary work. This new and seemingly simple Red Nose has been a fabulously complex little item to design and build involving our entire team. We hope it brings a little moment of joy to everyone who wears one.”

These are Jony’s own words about his creation, which would itself represent the most dramatic makeover of the organization’s Red Nose since its debut in 1988.

Comic Relief began selling its new Red Nose for USD $3 and is limiting online orders to eight per person, closing its availability until March 17, 2023 or while stocks last.
