“Dthis time, the studio process was longer than in previous recordings”, writes the Palma promoter, in the statement released today, adding that the musician, during the last few years, “has been divided between the studio and the concerts”.
Jorge Palma, with more than 50 years of career, quoted in the promoter’s communiqué, points out that “the studio is like a laboratory, a place where we have to perfect the tuning, the diction, everything”.
‘Vida’ will have a special edition, with a box that, in addition to the disc, will have a facsimile of the first draft of the song that gives the disc its name, and even a ‘booklet’ in book format, with photographs and documents of the process recording and rehearsals.
Regarding the chosen title, Jorge Palma states in the same statement: “I spent a long time looking for a title for this album and I couldn’t find anything significant. During the recording of the album, after having already recorded several songs, I remembered a song that I had written before going into the studio and that was incomplete. This song is called ‘Vida’. I finished it and realized that it made perfect sense to name this album after him”.
“It was ‘Life’, why not? Because yes!”, underlines the musician who turns 73 next June.
“An album is something very special, it’s a milestone that always represents a period of my life” says the musician.
The ‘Vida’ presentation concert will take place on the 6th of May at the Convento São Francisco, in Coimbra, with the musician sharing the stage with some of the guests on the album.
Jorge Palma will perform, meanwhile, next Wednesday, at 22:00, in the ‘arena lounge’ of Casino Lisboa, as part of the celebrations of the 17th anniversary of this entertainment space.
