Pilsen.
Beer, delicacies and a folk festival atmosphere – this is what visitors can enjoy over the next three days at the “Treffpunkt” festival in Pilsen. There is also a lot on offer for children.

If the waiting time for the Oktoberfest is too long, you might get your money’s worth in Pilsen (Plzen) in western Bohemia: the three-day Bavarian-Czech encounter festival “Treffpunkt” starts there on Thursday at 5 p.m.

In the classic beer tent atmosphere, you can make yourself comfortable in the Depo2015 cultural area with a hop drink and culinary delicacies such as pork knuckle.

Selection for the beer connoisseur

Visitors have the choice between a Bavarian wheat beer, a Bohemian Pilsner and – almost as a compromise – a Hefeweizen brewed in Pilsen. Bands such as “Erwin und die Heckflossen” from Regensburg and “Klagenfurt” from Prague provide musical entertainment. For families with children there are workshops, a shooting gallery and a carousel.

Entry is free. The organizers point out that card payments are not possible. The festival, now in its ninth year, is part of the celebrations of the 30th anniversary of the partnership between Pilsen and Regensburg this year. Both cities are only 125 kilometers apart.
