The last one was for Madrid. A month ago Federico picked her up from the Bernabu and gave her a slightly smaller one to put in the museum. This Copa del Rey is relatively new, it only has three champion badges, the last one owned by Barcelona. The Cup is owned by the team that wins three in a row or five in a row. When a team achieves it, the counter returns to zero for everyone, Federico tells us.
And the medals that will be given to the champions are also in Seville. Now they don’t give replicas of the Cup, they give medals. It is true that some players call me and ask me for replicas for their private collection. They can be original size, smaller than about 40 centimeters or even smaller, a secret that Federico always confesses to us from the discretion that characterizes him.
The Cup that Ramos broke
If there is a moment that Federico remembers with the Cup, it was the night when Ramos fell off the bus and was rendered useless. It was April 20, 2011. It had been 18 years since Madrid had won the trophy. Federico remembers that night as if it were today: In all the finals I always carry a spare Cup, just in case, I took another one to Valencia, of course. Nothing happened and I put her in the car to return to Madrid. When I had 100 kilometers to go, I heard on the radio that Ramos had fallen. So I accelerated and went straight to the Bernabu. When the bus arrived, Agustín Herrern, the delegate at the time, got off with Dudek and the Cup covered with a Madrid flag so that it could not be seen. He told me: You are already here. We went to his office and I gave him a new glass to take to the institutions the next day. So problem solved.

Claim at the museum
The idea of what to do with the destroyed Cup also came from him: I told the Federation to do whatever they wanted with the Cup, except fix it. I suggested that it stay in the Museum and that it be the most photographed, as it is, or that it be auctioned and the money obtained donated. In the end, the Board of Directors chaired by Villar at that time, decided that it would remain in the Museum. And there it continues, where as an augur, it is one of the great attractions.
