Álvarez not only achieved this mark, but also equaled Bolivian Juan Carlos Sánchez as the player who has scored the most goals in a single match in the history of the Copa Libertadores. Sánchez scored 6 in Blooming’s 8-0 win over Deportivo Italia of Venezuela in 1985.
