On January 8, 2023, exactly 50 years ago, the successful preschool format “Sesamstraße” (NDR) started in Germany, which has shaped generations of children ever since. In order to celebrate this anniversary with a birthday party, preparations are already in full swing from January 4th in the “KiKA-Baumhaus” (KiKA). On January 8, KiKA will then show the big birthday show at 5:25 p.m. All festive content and many other offers related to “Sesame Street” can be accessed in the world of friends on kikaninchen.de and in the KiKANiNCHEN app.
From January 4 to 8, 2023, Elmo, Grobi and Wolf will visit the “KiKA Tree House” (KiKA) at 6:47 p.m. There they plan the big birthday party together with Singa. It doesn’t matter whether it’s making confetti and invitation cards or choosing candles and gift bags: there is still a lot to do before the 50th birthday.
On January 8, 2023, at 5:25 p.m., KiKA will be celebrating “50 Years of Sesame Street: The Birthday Show” (NDR). Ernie plans a surprise party for Bert and involves his friend in the preparations far more than he would like. The other spots in the magazine are also all about partying: show presenter Rüdiger welcomes the sad Kummer family in his game show “Joy begins at 50”. In the documentary series “I can do that myself” Leni shows how she celebrates her sixth birthday with many friends and even “Wisch & Mop” are in a party mood – confetti and hustle and bustle guaranteed!
All “Sesame Street” offers can be called up at any time in the world of friends on kikaninchen.de and in the KiKANiNCHEN app. In addition, the four-part documentary series “A thousand great things”, in which prominent birthday guests remember their childhood with “Sesame Street” and the “Daily themes special: 50 years of Sesame Street” (both NDR) can be accessed in the KiKA player from January 8th will.
“Sesame Street” can be seen from Monday to Friday in the KiKANiNCHEN spread at 7:45 a.m. on KiKA. From January 9th, the modeling clay animation series “Ernie and Bert in the Land of Dreams” (NDR) will start right on time for the 50th birthday, with which preschool children can start their day from 8:05 a.m.

That’s why they call on children to get creative and draw pictures of how they imagine the festival with Cookie Monster, Ernie and Bert and Co. The paintings can be sent in by post or uploaded to the KiKA adult pages from January 8 to February 8, 2023. With a bit of luck, five of the artists will receive great prizes and can look forward to having their pictures on kikaninchen for a week .de.
