It is said that he is on the mend. Nevertheless, King Harald has to stay in the hospital. There the monarch is being treated for an infection.

Oslo – The Norwegian King Harald V. (86) has to stay in the hospital a little longer because of an infection. The Norwegian royal family announced that the monarch was on sick leave for the time being up to and including Tuesday. The king is still on the mend, but will stay at the National Hospital in Oslo for a few more days.

Harald had come to the hospital on Monday. The reason for this was a renewed infection, which made treatment necessary. The king was only in the Reich Hospital because of an infection in December, but was able to leave it again after two days. In the time before that, he had struggled with illnesses several times, which had to be treated there more frequently.

The renewed sick leave comes at the wrong time for Harald: Next Wednesday Norway celebrates its national holiday. It is still unclear to what extent the 86-year-old head of state can participate. dpa
