TV 2 is informed by informed sources in SV.

The election committee’s chairman Pål Julius Skogholt will not reveal the content of the recommendation before it is presented on Wednesday morning, but confirms that no counter-candidates have appeared against Bergstø.

– There is only one candidate for the position of leader in SV, says Skogholt.

According to TV 2, no one in the election committee has objected to Bergstø being nominated as the new party leader. Thus, the selection committee is unanimous on this point. Bergstø has been deputy leader of SV since 2017.

– I will comment on the setting when it arrives, writes Bergstø in a text message to TV 2.

A month ago, it became clear that Kari Elisabeth Kaski withdrew as a leadership candidate, for personal reasons.

The path has thus been clear for Bergstø, who was the first to launch his candidacy.

The SV deputy leader comes from Finnmark, but has been elected to the Storting from Akershus in Viken. She currently lives outside Oslo with a nine-year-old son.

There is more tension linked to who will take over the vacant deputy post after Bergstø. Several sources TV 2 has spoken to are unsure whether the election committee has managed to reach unanimity here.

A number of names have been recorded from county teams and local teams for the vice-chairmanship that will become vacant when Bergstø moves up, including Lars Haltbrekken, Freddy Øvstegård, Ingrid Fiskaa, Marian Hussein and Grete Wold.

It is expected that SV’s second deputy chairman Torgeir Knag Fylkesnes will be re-elected.
