La Barra de Santerra, the most informal version of the formidable cuisine of chef Miguel Carretero

World famous for its spectacular croquettes, Santerra offers us a wide variety of dishes that capture the genuine flavor of authentic modernized Castilian cuisine.. A reference restaurant in the capital, which opened its doors back in 2017, and which has recently been awarded a well-deserved Michelin star.

A pleasant place that offers us two very different options. On the one hand, its most classic version in a restaurant format, and on the other, a lively and informal bar, where you can enjoy its formidable cuisine at a more reasonable price. A successful concept, taking into account that in Madrid we are very bar-oriented, and that’s why fun art of tapas that is always associated with enjoyment. A more informal space, which in addition to its lively bar has some charming tables, where you can try Santerra’s most informal and democratic proposal. Servings and tapas that coexist with paper napkins and chopsticks to seductively delve into a cuisine that immediately conquers everyone who tries it. A lively meeting point where we can collect beautiful moments, while we savor delicious bites, fully enjoying the magic of traditional bars.

The visit

On our visit to La Barra de Santerra we began by tasting a Delicious pink tomato salad with tuna belly. A fresh, light and delicious proposal with hints of chilli and red onion, which led us to its famous Iberian ham croquettes considered the best in Madrid. With a semi-liquid interior and a delicate and crunchy exterior, they captivated us from the first bite. We continue with exceptional Santoa anchovies served on a sublime chamomile butter and accompanied by crunchy toast that makes it one of those bites that captivate the palate.

We continue with some fun cod and potato buuelos with honey and lemon gel. A daring and successful recipe, which surprised us with its balance and good combination of sweet and salty nuances.

The Russian salad with tuna belly and regas The one we tried later surprised us with its risky addition of green apple cubes. A fresh and fun spot, which we thoroughly enjoyed, before succumbing to the charms of their impressive fried potatoes with traditional brava sauce. A recipe with an intense flavor but with a balanced spicy touch that is worth trying. We continue enjoying our visit to La Barra de Santerra with some exquisite natural mussels in spicy pickle with fries They are truly addictive. A formidable pickle in which we could not avoid dipping. That said, everything said.

Before moving on to the sweet final moment, we tasted a tasty shepherd’s ratatouille with poached egg and smoked sardine which we enjoyed from start to finish, before sinning with their irresistible leche flan. A Homemade dessert made with fresh milk and a delicious tonka bean Chantilly. Without a doubt, the perfect finishing touch to our evening in the most informal space in Santerra.

La Barra de Santerra intoxicates us with that lively atmosphere of the most traditional Madrid through a careful selection of delicious preparations of the best Castilian cuisine. that always taste better In good company! TRUE?
