The Dortmund fire brigade went to the TU for a large-scale operation on Wednesday afternoon. A fire had broken out in a gene laboratory.

Technical defect: Laboratory device caught fire
A laboratory employee confirmed to the fire brigade that no “research on dangerous substances” was currently being carried out. One greater danger could therefore be ruled out.
Source of the smoke was a Autoclave: The device for cleaning laboratory inventory had a technical defect. The fire brigade ventilated the laboratory. Nothing is known about further damage.
