The head of the Buenos Aires Government, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, announced today that the people of Buenos Aires will elect his successor in the PASO, which will be held on August 13, with a Single Electronic Ballot, thus confirming the holding of concurrent elections in the district, despite to the opposition of the leader of the PRO, Mauricio Macri.

Larreta confirmed through a video uploaded on his social networks that the Open, Simultaneous and Mandatory Primaries (PASO) for Buenos Aires authorities will be on August 13, coinciding with the presidential ones, although in the category of head of Government and legislators of the City the porteños will vote with the Single Electronic Ballot.

“Today I want to tell you that I made the decision that the porteños vote on the same day that they vote in the national elections. That is, on August 13 I PASS them, on October 22 the general ones and on November 19 the ballotage, if it would have,” Larreta said. That avoids, she expressed, that “porteños have to go to vote up to six times a year. It saves us a lot of time and avoids unnecessary expenses.”

“And we are going to do it with the Single Electronic Ticket, which is a more agile, simpler, more transparent system and is a flag of the PRO that Mauricio (Macri) started in the City in 2015 and that we also promoted together with everything Together for Change (JxC) at the national level,” he added.

The Buenos Aires president affirmed that “the electronic ballot also allows us to focus the discussion of the proposals and projects of each candidate on the residents and on the opportunities of each neighborhood of the City.”

“I am going to support a candidate from my party, which is the PRO. In the coming weeks we will be working to define which is the best candidate to continue with all the transformations that we started with Mauricio and that we continue until today,” he concluded.
