You are currently viewing Laurent Tapie "furious" concerning sequences from the series Tapie (Netflix) which are not accurate

Last week, a new Netflix product arrived on the streaming platform, the series Tapie. During seven episodes, the life of the businessman is retraced thanks to Laurent Lafitte who plays him. Directed by Tristan Séguéla, the son of Jacques Séguéla who was a very good friend of the deceased, the mini-series is far from unanimous among those close to the former president of Olympique de Marseille. Indeed, shortly after its release, Stéphane Tapie did not mince his words. As for Laurent Tapie, he assures that his father “wouldn’t have liked it at all“: “There are a lot of things that we find, but also a lot of things that we don’t find. That’s also one of the things I criticize the series for.

Laurent Tapie talks about his regrets regarding the Tapie series

This Monday, September 18, Laurent Tapie was invited to Sud Radio to discuss this fiction. Bernard Tapie’s son reveals that he should have participated in the writing of the series. Put aside, he would have liked to have had his say so that the truth was relayed, particularly with regard to a particular moment: the meeting between Bernard Tapie and the former prosecutor Eric de Montgolfier, during the VA-OM match-fixing affair. In the series, he goes to see him in the evening, but Laurent Tapie indicates that “it didn’t exist” : “What is true is that my father went to see Mongolfier even before he summoned him. That’s correct. Afterwards, what they said to each other, they didn’t talk for twenty minutes.” Faced with this scene which does not reflect reality, Stéphane Tapie highlights “the two aspects that annoy (him) the most in the series” : “In this dialogue, Mongolfier teaches my father a complete lesson. On one side, there is the rigor of justice, on the other side, the schemer, who tries by all means, intimidation, flattery, to buy it. And Mongolfier who told him ‘you did not fall on me, you fell on justice’. I can tell you that there would be a lot of episodes to do on justice regarding my father.”

Laurent Tapiefurious“because of several scenes

Laurent Tapie has a second regret regarding the Tapie series: “The way they described his political journey, and what he did at the City Ministry. I was mad with rage“, he confides. And for good reason, his career has been summed up as “make snacks with strawberry toast” : “It’s grand Guignol. It’s not even funny, it’s a bit shameful. He did something other than organize tea parties for the suburbs“. If he is not as blunt in his words as his brother, he would have liked the character to evolve over the episodes: “From the third episode, I tuned out. Looks like it’s the same TV salesman from the first episode. It’s the same guy. There’s never a moment when you look at him and say he’s brilliant..”
