Despite a very bad second half, Lens dismissed Lorient (1-1, 2-4 pens), this Thursday, during the last round of 16 of the Coupe de France. The arts club will travel to Nantes in three weeks to try to qualify for the last square.

Fulgini launched Lens Lorient.

Less imperial for a few matches, Lens almost went through the trap. Sufficient in the second period, the Sang-et-Or still managed to beat Lorient (1-1, 2-4 tabs), this Thursday, during the final round of 16 of the Coupe de France.

The Arts club maintains the dream of a first victory in the event and will find the defending champion, Nantes, in three weeks, for a place in the last four.

Fulgini opens its counter

In a great atmosphere at Moustoir but on a rather difficult pitch, the Lensois made a better impression by maintaining continuous pressure on the local defense. A domination allowed thanks to very active recruits. The last, Fulgini, also opened the scoring after a powerful cross from Boura badly repelled by Mannone (0-1, 21st). The break was not far in the crowd on a recovery from Thomasson who passed very close to the post.

Like their recent outings, the Hakes showed themselves to be very timid in their intentions and not very successful in their desire to build from behind. If Cathline managed to make a few differences on her wing, Dieng was completely lonely and hardly touched any ball for 40 minutes. Even more frustrating, Yongwa saw Mr. Pignard not awarding him a penalty despite an obvious foul from Fulgini just before the break.

The Fe, unhappy hero

If Mannone won an important duel against Pereira da Costa at the end of the first period, Le Fe stumbled on a good Leca as soon as they returned from the locker room. A recovery dominated by Lorient, much more comfortable in his game forward and sharp in his accelerations. Franck Haise was in a hurry to bring out his two well-informed players, Poreba and Boura, to avoid unpleasant surprises.

The entries of Fofana or Sotoca did not bring much for Lens, who could thank Leca, author of two stops in front of Ponceau and very happy to see the strike from Makengo flee the frame. That of Le Fe, on a free kick between the surface, found her way to the nets (1-1, 84th). During the penalty shoot-out, Le Fe touched the bar while Leca deflected Kon’s attempt. Lens, who succeeded in his four attempts, ended up getting his ticket to the quarterfinals.

Match score: 5/10

Overall a decent game. Lens often proved sufficient in the second half. Lorient gradually gained strength and snatched the equalizer from a free kick in his highlight. In the end, it was the most lucid team that managed to get out of it.

The goals :

– After poor control, Pereira da Costa provokes the entry of the surface and shifts to his left Boura. The Lensois defender crosses hard, forcing Mannone to push the ball back to the far post, where Fulgini only has to place a flat foot in front of the empty goal to score (0-1, 21st).

– At the entrance to the surface, Doucour succeeds with his rake but is mowed down by Onana. Free kick for Le Fe, who took advantage of Abdul Samed’s laziness in the wall to find the way to Leca’s net under his left corner (1-1, 84′).

Players’ NOTES

Maxifoot has assigned a score (out of 10) comments on each player.

Man of the match: Jean-Louis Leca (7/10)

The veteran goalie did the job. He intervened against Cathline and Ponceau to delay the chance. Beaten by a free kick from Le Fe at the end of regulation time, the Lens goalkeeper was decisive during the penalty shootout by dismissing Kon’s attempt.

LORIEN :

Vito Mannone (5): the Italian goalkeeper is not flawless on Fulgini’s goal with an average intervention on Boura’s center. He made up for it before the break by fending off a cross shot from Pereira da Costa in a very good way. Unfortunately for Lorient, he was not decisive during the penalty shootout.

Igor Silva (5): a few unsuccessful climb attempts in the first period, shyness in the highlight of Lorient, the Brazilian did not respond to this offensively. It’s a shame because he was interesting in his ability to block enemy attacks.

Montassar Talbi (6.5): not much to report for the Tunisian central defender who performed well against the Lensois attackers. Clean in his raises, he was precise in his forward openings. A quality game from start to finish.

Bamo Meit (6): a little less comfortable than his understanding of the defensive hinge in raises but at least as good in duels. The central defender did not shake in this part.

Darlin Yongwa (6): a good performance for the left side, who should have obtained a penalty before the break for a fault by Fulgini. He was active in his lane.

Jean-Victor Makengo (5): the player passed by Nice was average. Apart from his shot pushed back by Leca in the second period, he was not very sharp.

Enzo Le Fe (6.5): still in a backward position, the Lorient playmaker made a quality copy. Good in his transmissions, he created several shifts to break through the Lensois block. Close to scoring on the return from the locker room on a tense strike, he ends up gallising on a nice free kick. He nevertheless loses his lucidity during the penalty shootout by finding the bar on the first attempt from Morbihan.

Romain Faivre (4.5): the winger on loan from Lyon got into his game very badly since it was his failed control that led to the Lensoise opener. He was a little more restless afterwards, getting a few fouls. Average overall. Replace the 68th minute with Sirin Doucour (not not).

Julien Ponceau (4.5): neither good nor bad. The attacking midfielder managed a few combinations with his teammates but did not weigh heavily in the attacks from Lorient. Replace the 84th minute with Gdon Kalulu (not not).

Yoann Cathline (6.5): one of the best Hakes on the lawn. The young attacker challenged a lot, not hesitating to pick up speed. The only real difference is with the ball in the feet.

Bamba Dieng (3): a very difficult match for the Senegalese striker, who only touched 19 balls. Very little served, he only distinguished himself with a completely missed volley before the break. Replace the 68th minute with Ibrahima Kon (not).

LENS :

Jean-Louis Leca (7): read comment above.

Jonathan Gradit (6): captain for the occasion, the central defender held his rank. He blocked attacks from Lorient quite well in his area.

Jean Onana (5): rather comfortable against Dieng, the midfielder is guilty of a largely avoidable fault on Doucour which leads to the winning free kick from Le Fe. An action that spoils his overall performance.

Ismal Boura (6): the versatile defender played his match. He is involved in the opener with a powerful cross badly repelled by Mannone. Solid defensively, he is still close to direct expulsion for a very strong foul with both feet in front of Faivre. Replace the 62nd minute with Deiver Machado (non not).

Przemyslaw Frankowski (5): a two-sided game. Offensively present with sharp climbs. Defensively very average with many small bridges taken. This gives an average copy.

Salis Abdul Samed (4): a bad match for the Ghanaian midfielder. He went down in speed over the minutes, lacking panache in the pressing. The former Clermontois is clearly not irreproachable on the equalizing goal of Le Fe by not jumping on the free kick.

Lukasz Poreba (5): the Polish midfielder started the match well with a good recovery job. Before nosediving, overwhelmed by the technique of Lorient circles. A mixed performance. Replace the 62nd minute with Seko Fofana (not not)author of a catastrophic entry with many lost balls.

David Costa (5.5): in a more remote position, the Lensois playmaker was important in the construction, notably being the origin of the opener. He is close to the break before the break before disappearing in the second half. Replace the 84th minute with Facundo Medina (not not).

Adrien Thomasson (6): good catches of the ball, intelligent positioning between the lines: the player who arrived from Strasbourg was right. He was slightly less influential after the break but made the necessary efforts to lend a hand to his more defensive partners.

Lois Openda (3): like his recent outings, the Belgian striker has shown himself to be uncomfortable. Apart from a nice acceleration on returning from the locker room, we did not see it. Replace the 72nd minute with Rmy Labeau-Lascary (not not).

Angelo Fulgini (5.5): first tenure and first goal for the defector from Mainz, opportunist on the opener. If he was interesting in his ball shots, he should have been punished before the break for an obvious foul in the area on Yongwa. Replace the 72nd minute with Florian Sotoca (not not).
