Less than 1% of AMLO’s followers watch the morning, revealed SPIN

In the framework of the discussions around the daily morning conference of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), the analyst louis estrada revealed that less than 1% of the followers on the president’s Facebook account watch the “morning” every day.

The author of The empire of other data charged that, according to his home monitoring of surveys and analysis, spin-Political Communication Workshop, the trend of views has fallen steadily, while he accused AMLO of not supporting his claims of having millions of viewers every day with evidence.

“While López Obrador and his officials say that daily ‘millions’ watch the president’s conference, they have never shown it. According to figures from SPIN, visits to the conferences on AMLO’s Facebook is less than 1% of his followers”, commented the political scientist.

In this sense, he agreed that only 3 seconds are required within the video to register the visit in the transmission.

However, it should be noted that the “morning” is broadcast from Monday to Friday through various digital platforms, such as Facebook and Twitter, as well as through various YouTube channels, such as that of the Government of Mexico, the channel of Andrés Manuel López Obrador and some media, public and private.

In the transmission of the last press conference —through the channel of the Government of Mexico— took place last Wednesday, April 5, the total views were over 108,000 and, considering that the total number of subscribers is 779,000, the views were equivalent to 13%.

Meanwhile, the personal channel of the federal president has 3.66 million subscribers and the conferences of the last 10 days have views of more than 600 thousand viewers; that is, more than 16%.

The controversy surrounding the “morning” began when the head of the federal Executive announced on April 4 that the press conferences on Thursday and Friday, April 6 and 7, would be canceled because they coincided with the Easter.

Days later, the political scientist Denise Dresser he expressed in the raido program of Carmen Aristegui —from Thursday, April 6— the urgency to end the scheme of AMLO’s daily conferences, which he considered as the root of the polarization among the Mexican population.

“I think a solution would have to be the end of the morning. I do not deny that Mexico had pre-existing cleavages and gaps: social, cultural, race, class, but the morning has been in charge of stoking those grievances and also creating enemies at convenience”, accused the also writer.

In addition, the academic pointed out that AMLO is a “leader with authoritarian drives”, who is accompanied by a “cortege of writers, intellectuals, propagandists, moneros, youtubers” and even the media.

“Lopezobbradorism has become a plethora of xenophobic ideas, visibly jingoistic or openly authoritarian,” condemned the also professor at the Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico (ITAM).

In response, the President of Mexico posted a video through his social networks in which he announced that on Monday, April 10, the mornings will returndespite the fact that their opponents want them to disappear.

“Tomorrow we are going to be in the morning, even if they want to ban it, imagine. The conservatives are intolerant; They just want to talk, they don’t want us all to talk. But hey, they won’t be able to, see you tomorrow morning,” said López Obrador from Palenque, Chiapas.
