Haydée Milanés and the teacher Pavel Urkiza have come together to launch a version of “Virgen Mambisa”the song dedicated to the Patroness of Cuba, the Virgin of Charity.

The music video premiere “Virgen Mambisa (Exiliada)”in which they also participate Alfredo Triff and the Cuban Choirwill be next December 6 at the Hermitage of Charity in Miami.

“Join us in this tribute to the Virgin of Charity and let us ask her for the freedom of Cuba!” reads a publication by the Cuban filmmaker. Eliecer Jiménez Almeida who is the producer of the audiovisual.

According to website of the Ermita de la Caridad “this launch is a celebration of Cuban culture“, faith and hope, and a tribute to the Virgin of Charity of Cobre, who has been the beacon of love and unity for Cubans throughout history.”

“Virgen Mambisa”, composed by Rogelio Zelada and Orlando Rodriguezis a song that has accompanied many generations of Cubans and “has become a prayer of love, peace and freedom.”

Once again music is once again the vehicle to express the feelings of thousands of Cubans in exile who want the freedom of their country, and what better way than singing to the Patroness of Cuba.

Every year the Cuban community in Miami comes to the Hermitage of Charity to show their devotion to the Virgin. On September 8, the sanctuary welcomed several Cuban artists in exile in a artistic vigil dedicated to the Virgin of Charity.
