Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso justifies his move to the Bundesliga. In an interview with ‘EL PAÍS’, the 41-year-old says that he also backed his decision “has made dependent on his time at Bayern Munich”. A key reason was the promotion of young talent: “German clubs are not exactly squeamish when it comes to giving young players a chance. Alonso switched from Real Madrid to Bayern during his active playing career in the summer of 2014. There he spent the last three years of his successful career. The Spaniard was able to get an impression of the league in 79 Bundesliga games. “The pace is very high all the time. If you don’t control the transition, you suffer”Alsonso continues, “In Spain you play in more spaces, in England the spaces are smaller depending on the opponent, and here it’s a bigger space, more extensive, you move from space to space. Dominating the opponent so much is very complicated because many teams go on the offensive.”
