LH Markus Wallner: "We will manage it"

“It’s still valid!”, Governor Markus Wallner (ÖVP) is sure and wishes “A good news!”. In “Vorarlberg LIVE” he advocates “putting the optimistic in the foreground”. Although you are in a multiple crisis situation, you can still trust in the state of Vorarlberg: “We will manage it.”

A new area of ​​crisis could arise, for example, around the supply of medicines, says Wallner: “We feel that and that’s not good news for the population.” But not only in this area – but for example in the energy supply – global dependencies would have to be questioned: “It gives me a lot of headaches.” With the “boom” of photovoltaic systems, there is at least one good side of the crisis: the will to expand these systems would be great, but Wallner refers to the federal government on this issue, which has a task in the more efficient distribution of subsidies: “It is the case throughout Austria that there are significantly more applications than money.”

The governor finds words of praise for the state’s values ​​when it comes to youth unemployment: “We are below five percent, which other regions in Europe cannot show at all.” He is disappointed that the federal government recently declared the reform of unemployment insurance to have failed: “I was in favor of a degressive model: It’s definitely higher when you start, but then it drops.” The statistics came as a surprise to him, especially in view of the pandemic: “We’ve had an extreme year of growth.”
