Lima presented the coldest night of summer in the last 30 years

In the first weeks of 2023, high temperatures have been recorded, causing the beaches to look crowded to appease the intense heat characteristic of the summer season. However, in recent days there has been a decrease in temperature, especially at night and early morning.

The National Service of Meteorology and Hydrology of Peru (Senamhi) reported that the temperature recorded during the night of January 11 recorded a new record by presenting minimum temperatures of 17.7°C in Jesus Maria and 15.2°C in La Molina, values that were not present for 30 years.

He also indicated that very cold nights have been reported in recent days due to cold sea conditions and the presence of the South Pacific anticyclone. The entity warned that these weather conditions will persist in the coming days.

Although it has been predicted that the temperature during the summer months will reach values of 31°C in some districts of the capital, on the afternoon of Wednesday, January 11, a light rain surprised the people of Lima in different parts of the city.

“Sierra de Lima presents localized rain. Light, isolated and short-term rain is expected to occur in Metropolitan Lima, especially in the districts located to the east and north”, was the confirmation announcement from Senamhi.

Meteorologist Abraham Levy “the weatherman” explained that these weather conditions are due to the speed of the wind at a high altitude that does not allow precipitation to settle on the reservoirs.
