Loki | Director reveals alternative ending

The end of season 2 of Loki, which had a huge impact on the public, could have been different, as revealed by the director.

Em Marvel Studios Assembled: The Making of Loki (Via ComicBook.com), Aaron Moorhead said that there was a version of the script that did not involve Yggdrasil. In it, Loki he would simply save the Loom of Time and ascend the throne.

There was a draft of the ending that didn’t sound good between us. This draft didn’t have Loki destroying the Tear. He would save Tear from implosion and then ascend the throne. We all knew something was wrong, we just didn’t know what,” these Moorhead.

The problem was that he didn’t accept any of the sacrifices, so we thought: why doesn’t he destroy everything and then assume the enormous responsibility of Tear? He gains nothing from this. It seems so obvious now, it seems like exactly the right choice. But this was a turning point in the development of the season, when we realized that Loki would need to destroy and become the Tear,” added the director.
