During the last week, a gathering of online firms in which they seek that pets are considered part of the family on a legal level went viral on social networks. Filo.news talked with Antonella Marini, Director of Mon Amito understand where the idea that already has more than 26,000 signatures came from.

“We are surprised and grateful for the importance that this issue had,” started Antonella, who is part of a Family business that has been making pet food for over 40 years: “The petition that we launched in Change.org is for pets to be included in the law of special licenses for the death of a family member,” he explained.

“In our community we realize that cats and dogs have a role comparable to any other member of the family. Some 120 people work in our company and we think: ‘If they ever find themselves in an instance of illness or death of a loved one, how can we not give him a license or whatever he needs?’ If we defend that pets are part of the family in everything we do, how can they not be in the workplace?”, pondered.

“Our pets are part of the family and, therefore, they should be part of the law. In Argentina, up to four days of leave are granted for the death of a family member, but none when it comes to a pet. Join our campaign so that pets most faithful members of our home are also part of the Special Licenses Law”, says Mon Ami’s proposal and by clicking here you can add your signature.

“The cultural change of the link that we are trying to value with this discussion is really a fact and we know it because we experience it like this. But, If this can enter into a legal and institutional framework, it will not be left to the discretion of each employer“, closed the director of Mon Ami.
