The Correctional Court No. 1 of La Plata acquitted Lucas Ezequiel Grippo in the trial he had to face for alleged beatings of his ex-partner, melina cruzin the context of gender violence. According to the complainant, the event occurred on October 17, 2018, when she was attacked by the defendant and a group of violent individuals in the vicinity of Bingo de La Plata.
This is the second time that Grippo has been acquitted by the Justice for similar accusations. “Seven years of constant persecution for false accusations of Melina Cruz and her family have ended. They made me live an ordeal that I do not wish on anyone. Much less, spending two months in unjustified detention, as they made me live,” the young man had declared.
According to the complaint, the conflict between them began in 2011, when Cruz decided to separate from him five months after the relationship began. According to her testimony, it was because of the attacks she received. She got pregnant in 2012 and they had a daughter..

The young man was denounced at least 13 times for gender violence in successive years. In 2018, Cruz denounced that she was attacked by the defendant and a group of violent people who accompanied him. As a result, she suffered several injuries, including sharp wounds caused by a knife and which were verified by the medical staff of the La Plata Women’s Police Station. In the report, it is highlighted that the woman suffered “dipalpebral ecchymosis in both eyes, several linear wounds parallel to each other, horizontal in an area six centimeters long on the outer face of the right forearm; and linear, superficial and parallel wounds to each other on upper abdominal region, four centimeters outside the midline to the right, which are compatible with injuries caused by the support and sliding of a pointed and sharp element”.
It should be noted that Grippo had already gone to trial in November 2019 for alleged threats towards Melina Cruz, denounced in 2016. After presenting the evidence during the debate, the prosecutor Claudia Cendoya decided to drop the accusation, for which the defendant was immediately acquitted.
In the ruling, the judge Eduardo Eskenazi He stated before the prosecutor: “If you had accused, Grippo would still have been acquitted”.
