Sant Adrià de Besòs (Barcelona), Aug 12 (EFE).- The Espanyol coach, Luis García, explained this Saturday at the press conference prior to his team’s debut in LaLiga Hypermotion against Albacete that “Darder is already past” of the club and pointed out that now there are footballers who “will have to take a step forward and take these stripes”.

The Asturian, after training at the Dani Jarque Sports City, did not hide that the Balearic player, transferred yesterday to Mallorca and whose goodbye was announced without a press conference and with an official statement, has been “a great footballer” for the block.

In addition, he recalled that the parakeet institution has “moved on” after the departure of emblematic players such as “the Five Dolphins (Amas, Rodilla, Marcial, Re and José María), Solsona, Marañón, N’Kono, Lauridsen, Tamudo, De la Peña, Sergio García, Gerard Moreno…”.

Luis García revealed that he had conversations with Sergi Darder, although these remain in the private sphere. In any case, the coach told the media that he did not want to waste “not even a second” talking about people who are “past” of the club. “In 24 hours we have a very important game,” he recalled.

Regarding the lackluster output of the latest references, such as Darder, Raúl de Tomás or Joselu, the coach focused on today’s society and shared a conversation he had with a young player: “It’s not because of the fans, they are plus the environments and the player’s egos, always changing and looking for something different.”

Luis García argued that one must be happy “with the present” and cannot live “in the future” as many footballers of the new generations do.

“Today I was talking to a player and I told him that tomorrow was not one more match, but one less. As the years go by, when you get closer to your retirement, if you love this, each day is one less that takes you away from do what you like the most”, he insisted.

The coach stressed that his only concern is “to arrive as fresh as possible” to give the best solutions to the players in the league debut against Albacete.

“I am going with a group that is very, very committed to the objective. The most important thing is collective thoughts and not individual ones,” he said.

In this sense, Luis García recalled that the Second Division includes 42 games and that the objective of promotion can be achieved in “eleven months”. That is why the coach highlighted the relevance of the unit and the commitment of the dressing room in the long term: “We definitely need a team.”

Asked about the absence of signings, the Spaniard acknowledged that not having incorporated footballers “is not logical or normal.” Much more so when, he explained, the team lacks “in terms of specific and fundamental positions” for the block “such as the wingers.”

The person in charge of the bench did not hide that this scenario “decreases” the group since they are necessary profiles. However, Luis García did not hide behind the market: “It is far from an excuse. I am looking for solutions to give the players the most. I am calm and we have blind faith in those who are in there.”

Regarding Albacete, the Espanyol coach praised its virtues. “It has very clear automatisms and depth. Some fourteen footballers from last year and the same coach follow. They have many positive components. We have worked very well during the week and we are going to compete with maximum equality”, he reflected. EFE
