DENVER, Colorado – Larimer County authorities have successfully dismantled a disturbing plot to carry out multiple murders.

Joshua Anderson, currently being held in the county jail on a criminal case in Fort Collins, has been identified as the alleged mastermind behind the macabre plan.

The charges include attempted first degree murder, extortion and illegal possession of weapons. Along with him, Jesse Mewes, of Fort Collins, was also arrested for his involvement in the plot, facing charges of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and illegal weapons possession.

In June 2023, authorities discovered that Anderson was actively coordinating the assassination plot. Investigators determined that he communicated with outside accomplices to carry out the crimes.

On June 8, Jesse Mewes of Fort Collins, involved in the plot, was arrested. The charges include conspiracy to commit first degree murder and possession of an illegal weapon. Mewes is being held at the Larimer County Jail on $250,000 bond.

On June 9, additional charges were filed against Anderson, including solicitation to commit first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder. His additional bail is $1,000,000.
