In the near future, the gangsters of “The Eagle of the Road” sow terror, so much so that the government has set up specialized brigades aimed at stopping them. Member of the unit, Max Rockatansky (played by Mel Gibson) manages to neutralize one of their own. But the latter have the intention of taking revenge and begin to attack one of Max’s friends, Jim Goose. Everything will then go wrong when the famous gang of dangerous bikers will attack his family and make him completely mad with rage.

Like a Charles Bronson in A vigilante in the city 2, Mel Gibson plays a man thirsty for revenge who wants to eliminate each member of the gang, one by one. It is by drawing inspiration from his former work as an emergency doctor that George Miller sketches the story of a man who walks the roads to treat the injured. Fearing that the public will not adhere to the proposal, he then imagines a dystopian future and manages to gather the necessary finances for the production of the feature film. Due to the limited budget for such a project, the film crew had to adapt: scenes in abandoned buildings, leather clothing only for Max and Jim, no extras, fights by the actors themselves… theatrical success, Mad Max will eventually culminate in a trilogy, first with Mad Max 2: The Challenge (in which the hero fights against a band of looters to obtain gasoline) and then with Mad Max: Beyond Thunder Dome (after a nuclear war, Max tries to survive and has to face a terrible enemy).

Considered as one of the most outstanding trilogies of science fiction cinema, Mad Max deeply marked the spirits. With its $350,000 budget (for $100 million in revenue), it was for a very long time one of cinema’s most profitable films. In 2015, after years of negotiations, George Miller was able to direct a fourth film: Mad Max : Fury Road. The main role was recovered by Tom Hardy who gave the reply to an incredible Charlize Theron. To this day, it is still considered a masterpiece of the genre and remains one of the most visually compelling films.
