A man was arrested in Brickell for being shot in the chest to the young Stephany Piñero, who turned out to be his girlfriend, in a violent incident that occurred last Wednesday.
Angel Antonio Arteaga-Abreu, 41, was charged with shooting or launching a deadly missile, giving false information in a sworn statement and criminal mischief, local media reported.
The events occurred on 12th Street and South Miami Avenue in Brickell, outside the Corner Club in the middle of a brawl last Saturday when several subjects began hitting a red Toyota 4-Runner vehicle.
The driver began to speed away from the parking lot and at that moment a security video recorded how a man shot into the truck.
After the event, a 34-year-old woman was found at the entrance to the parking lot, lying on the ground with a wound to her chest and was taken to the hospital.
The woman regained consciousness last Wednesday and identified her boyfriend as the man who hit and shot in the video that the police showed her.
The young woman was surprised and believes that her boyfriend acted that way because he was very drunk, since he had no reason to participate in the fight.
Arteaga-Abreu, of Kissimmee, was jailed and his bond was set at $13,500.
The victim, Stephany Piñero, who works as a cosmetologist at a beauty and personal care studio on Calle 8, she could have saved her life thanks to her breast implants.
The bullet in the chest did not cause major damage due to the young woman’s prosthetics.
