Large-scale operation of the fire brigade after the fire alarm in a high-rise building. The occupant of the fire apartment could only be recovered dead.

A man died in a fire in a ground floor apartment of a high-rise building in Ratingen (Mettmann district). Rescue workers freed the resident from his apartment on Wednesday night, as the Ratingen fire brigade announced early Wednesday morning. However, an emergency doctor could only determine the death of the man.

According to the information, no other people were injured in the house with more than 100 residents. After the fire was fought, the residents of the unaffected apartments were able to return home.

The cause of the fire was initially unclear, according to a police spokesman. The fire brigade was deployed with around 80 forces. (with dpa)
