Before Wednesday’s match, Haaland, with his 34 goals, shared first place with Andy Cole (Newcastle, 1993–94) and Alan Shearer (Blackburn, 1994–95).

Haaland says in the Sky Sports interview that he was well aware that he had the record on the fork.

– It was not easy because West Ham laid down on the defensive side. We had problems in the first half but then the goals came.

Haaland’s balance is now 35 goals in 31 games and he is on his way to a superior victory in the shooting league.

City take their third straight title?

The win saw Manchester City overtake Arsenal and move into first place in the league table.

Most things point to City being able to celebrate their third straight league title after 38 rounds. The team has played one game less than Arsenal, who are also facing two tough games: Newcastle away and Brighton at home.

– With five games left, I am satisfied with the situation, says Manchester City’s coach Pep Guardiola.
