When Agent Robert Vance searches the plane that has just landed…

After the grand finale of Manifest, at least one question remains unanswered: what happened to Captain Daly (Frank Deal)? The fate of the pilot of Flight 828 is revealed in a deleted scene uploaded by Netflix today (see below).

Spoiler alert! In “Final Boarding”, passengers travel back to 2013 – with their memories of the past five years – and reunite with loved ones who have no idea what they’ve been through. But a handful of them did not land that day. Indeed, during the final judgment flight, 19 passengers (including Angelina) literally imploded. Officially, they therefore disappeared in full flight and the director of the NSA, Robert Vance (Daryl Edwards) boards flight 828, at the end of the last episode, to carry out this impossible investigation. Co-pilot Amuta (Leajato Robinson) insists he was alone at the controls of the plane, but the cockpit is locked from the inside. After a technician opens the door, Vance and his agents find Captain Daly – who was killed in the Season 4 episode “Fata Morgana” in the 2024 timeline – in utter distress. They thus see him implode live, suggesting that he was deemed unworthy to return to life by the higher divine consciousness that gave most of the other passengers and humanity a second chance by the same occasion. A little surprise, because we thought he was a good guy…

Anyway, the creator ManifestJeff Rake, explains why the footage was cut: “We wrote the Daly scene as a little wink, which was supposed to be the last scene in the series. But actually, the happy ending was enough on its own. So we chose to release the Daly scene after It made more sense that way…because the fans needed to know about Daly too!” Still, we don’t really understand why he exploded like this, on Earth, in 2013, when all the others went to ashes during the final biblical flight…
