In an interview at BAFTA, Margot Robbie talks about her immediate reaction when she read Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach’s script for the upcoming Barbie movie:
“The first time I read the Barbie script, my reaction was, ‘Ah! This is so good. What a shame it will never see the light of day because they are never going to let us make this movie.’ But they did!”
This may sound like typical PR exaggeration from an actor forced to promote his film. But since uncompromising indie favorites Gerwig and Baumbach are behind it, and for the first time making a blockbuster with a huge budget, you can imagine that the film will not be the usual Hollywood reel.
Barbie is expected to be one of the biggest films of the year, with a Swedish premiere on July 20.
