Matteus Quinteto is in the fourth grade at Brunsparksskolan and has planted an oak tree in Sofieroskogen. He would have liked to plant more trees if he could.
– It feels cool, says Matteus Quinteto.
The Children’s Forest project has been ongoing since 1997 and school students have since planted trees in Filborna Forest Park, Bruce’s Forest and now since 2016 in Sofiero Forest.
Learn about the forest
The tree planting is held by Helsingborg’s own initiative to support environmental education in schools – the Environment Workshop.
– It’s a great way to learn about the benefits of the forest and be involved in urban planning, says Caroline Sjunner at the Environment Workshop.
In Sofieroskogen, 1,500 trees are planted by school students, including beech, oak and maple.
Hear Matthew tell how the tree planting is done in the video above.
