The former president of the Nation, Mauricio Macri, spoke this afternoon about the elections in the city of Buenos Aires and, in turn, made reference to the figure of Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, who is analyzing enabling a concurrent election in CABA to unfold the elections and In this way preserve your agreement with the UCR.

Regarding this issue, Macri stated: “I don’t think Horacio would do that, it would go against the neighbors. It’s more state spending, more voting time, more lines; it would go against everything we’ve been working on these years”.

Along the same lines, the former president remarked: “You don’t have to change electoral rules in the same year and you don’t have to do them because of speculation on the part of you thinking that something is going to change, complicating people’s lives. You don’t have to change the rules thinking that in this way the vote of the porteños is going to be manipulated”.

Finally, he pointed out again regarding the split in the elections that they wanted to apply through Larreta’s decision: “The majority of the PRO disagrees. I don’t think Horacio will make that decision because it goes against what we have worked for these years.”

The concurrent elections would imply that the porteños vote on the same day as the PASO for the categories president and national deputies, but with a different voting system.

According to this scheme, voters could vote on the same day for president and national legislators with the so-called traditional sheet ballot, while for the head of government, local legislators and community members, a single paper or electronic ballot would be used.
