12 noon: Demo through Grunewald begins

Several vehicles are said to have been damaged in Berlin on the night of May 1st. According to a local reporter, two cars were set on fire in Neukölln and another was damaged. In Moabit, two cars burned out completely.

A police spokeswoman spoke of a fire on Berlichingenstrasse at around 0.50 a.m. Accordingly, a car caught fire, the fire brigade was able to prevent the complete burning. The vehicle parked next to the car was also damaged. The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.

According to the reporter, the police seized fire accelerants at the scene of the fire.

10:30 p.m .: At least one arrest at a demo in Kreuzberg

Riots broke out at the queer-feminist “Take back the Night” demo in Kreuzberg. In addition to throwing bottles, police officers on the sidelines of the demonstration were repeatedly hit and kicked, said a police spokeswoman. At least one woman was arrested.

According to the police, around 3,300 demonstrators were present. Especially in the front part of the event, the mood was aggressive. Firecrackers were set off and Bengal fire burned out. The police stopped the demonstration several times. In some cases, the police took umbrellas from demonstrators who used them as privacy screens.

9:35 p.m .: Police end rap concert

The Berlin police announced on Twitter that they had ended an unregistered concert by a rapper in Viktoriapark. They do not write which rapper it was.

9:21 p.m .: Bottles thrown at the police during the demo

The police stopped the queer feminist “Take back the Night” demo in Kreuzberg. The authorities tweeted that some of the participants wore masks and pyros were set off. Bottles and pyros were thrown at emergency services from the elevator. At least one person was arrested in the course of the elevator, police tweeted.

A journalist from the “Tagesspiegel” also reports about throwing bottles from the demo.

6.16 p.m .: First demonstration ended

The demonstration in Wedding apparently came to an end without any major incidents. The police tweeted that the demo train had arrived at Gesundbrunnen and was now over.

4:34 p.m .: Police officers from all over Germany in Berlin

On Walpurgis Night, 3,400 police officers are on duty. The authority announced this on Twitter. In addition to police officers from Berlin, colleagues from Baden-Württemberg, North Rhine-Westphalia, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Thuringia, Schleswig-Holstein and the federal police are also on duty.
