Daniella Levine Cava, in the campaign, fishes for votes among residents of Cuban origin

MIAMI.- Daniella Levine Cava, mayor of Miami-Dade, said she was surprised to learn that a delegation of officials from the Cuban regime visited the facilities of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), as published in a press release.

“Like many in our community, I was surprised to learn that a delegation from the Cuban government was invited to visit the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) facilities at Miami International Airport (MIA).

The decision to allow Cuban officials to tour secure areas at MIA was made without the knowledge of the Miami-Dade Aviation Department (MDAD) and occurred during the celebration of Cuban Independence Day, a date on which we reaffirmed our commitment with freedom and democracy in Cuba in the face of a brutal dictatorship.

Miami-Dade County strongly supports the Cuban people here in our community and on the island as the fight to bring freedom to Cuba continues, and we are committed to ensuring the safety of our community and all those who travel through our airport ”.

For his part, James Reyes, head of public security for the county, who is campaigning for the position of sheriff of Miami-Dade, declared that “as the son of a Cuban political prisoner, he considers it offensive that the TSA agency allows Cuban officials to tour security protocols at Miami International Airport.”

“This decision was made unilaterally by TSA and without any knowledge of county officials. “This shocking measure, on the day that Cubans celebrate Cuban Independence Day, should never happen again,” said Reyes.

Cuban American Senator Marco Rubio admitted that “only under the Biden Administration would they allow a terrorist regime to enter our secure facilities at one of the busiest airports in the United States.”

The visit by officials of the Havana regime to the TSA facilities in MIA was uncovered by DIARIO LAS AMÉRICAS. We have requested information from those responsible for the federal agency and we have not yet received a response.

Last year, Florida lawmakers passed SB 264, called “Foreign Country Interests,” which prohibits people and companies from China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, Cuba and Venezuela from purchasing nearby properties. to a military installation, power plants, telecommunications systems, ports or airports in Florida, to ensure security and prevent them from accessing sensitive information.
