Texas pastor pleads guilty to possession of child pornography

A Georgetown pastor identified as David Lloyd Walther, 57, pleaded guilty in federal court in Austin, Texas, last week to a felony count of possession of child pornography.

According to court documents, at the time of his arrest, Walther was pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Round Rock, a city north of Austin, the Texas capital.

According to authorities, Walter knowingly searched for, downloaded and distributed child sexual abuse material, including child pornography, some of which depicted pre-adolescent minors, using BitTorrent, a peer-to-peer file-sharing network.

According to court documents, during a search of Walther’s home and vehicle in November 2022, two large computer hard drives containing more than 100,000 images and more than 5,000 videos of child sexual abuse material were located.

Walther faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000. A federal district court judge will determine his sentence.

The FBI San Antonio Division Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force, with invaluable assistance from the Round Rock Police Department, is investigating the case.
