The PRI mayor of Toluca, Raymundo Martínez Carbajal, removed his wife, Viridiana Rodríguez, from her position as honorary president of the municipal DIF, after alleged fraud by her father-in-law to the children’s stays administered by the agency.
The determination was announced by the mayor during the ordinary session of the Cabildo this Friday.
“To provide transparency and favor the development of the inquiries, it has been determined that the honorary president of the DIF system will immediately separate from her duties, which will not affect in any way the services that the agency offers,” he said.
During the session, the Mayor assured that during the administration he presides over, every act of corruption from this and past administrations has been confronted and denounced.
Yesterday, the Director of the DIF, Iván Arturo López Zepeda, filed a complaint with the Attorney General of the State of Mexico (FGJEM) after the detection of missing material and documentation in the inventory of the DIF Toluca Municipal System.
According to municipal sources, the mayor’s father-in-law, Óscar Emilio Rodríguez, was the one who managed the acquisitions and purchases of the institution, without having any position as a public official.
The DIF indicated that the alleged theft of stationery, receipts, notes, invoices, and internal marking material was recorded, with the legends “INFANTS, PREPARATORY, MATERNALES.”
For this reason, the Mayor stated that when faced with the possibility of irregularities that put the operation of the Municipal DIF system at risk, he instructed that the corresponding legal actions be taken.
The City Council requested that, as it is a matter that entails implications of a personal nature and putting the best interests and protection of the privacy of its minor child first, that the comments be kept in the institutional sphere and through the corresponding channels.
The complaint is registered in the folder TOL/TOL/TOL/107/10198/23/04, the property being directly affected, a warehouse where acquisitions from the farms were stored, located in Colonia Morelos.
