Mayor Wu Reacts To Video Of Boston Police Officer Injured After Using City Hall Plaza Slide

Mayor Michelle Wu spoke briefly about a video that has been widely shared on social media showing an injured Boston police officer after jumping off a slide at City Hall Plaza.

The officer, who appears in the video in full uniform, suffered minor injuries, according to a representative for the department. He was treated with his own health insurance, missed no time from work and faces no disciplinary action from the department.

The slide is part of a playground in the square, which reopened after a renovation in November, and is marked to warn adults not to use the equipment.

It was not immediately clear when the incident occurred.

When asked about the video going viral on Tuesday, Wu told reporters he did not know what led up to the matter, but vowed to look into it, as well as how the officer was doing.

“We want all of our public spaces to be loved and if it seems like we need to make sure there are more signs saying this is for kids or something like that, we can do that too,” he said.
